Getting our girl back!
By Mommy24-7 | May 22, 2009
Well, I called and talked to the doc tonight… turns out some kids just can’t take it…Zyrtec, Claritan or similar meds. I wasn’t imagining it…really does make kids hyper… not all kids, but of course mine
He recommended eye drops and nasal spray for now and I’ll be taking her in next week for some sort of testing. I don’t want her to have these miserable allergies but I’d much rather prefer the allergies to the bad behavior. Poor thing ![]()

Zyrtec for 4 year olds?
By Mommy24-7 | May 22, 2009
R’s been taking zyrtec for a week now for seasonal allergies per her doctor. I need to call the doctor about it tomorrow but I’m wondering if anyone has had experience with it completely turning their 4 year old into a crazy person. Her behavior is out of control. She’s acting like a teenager! She is not usually like this at all and I’m just wondering if it could have something to do with the medicine or just a lovely phase…maybe both. I am ready to run out of my house screaming. ![]()

Happy Anniversary
By Mommy24-7 | May 5, 2009
We just celebrated our anniversary this past weekend and had a really nice time. My parents watched R from Friday to Sunday!! It was the first time she ever slept overnight without us. She had a GREAT time. We felt like we were dating again
It was just really nice. We saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine in the theatre and had Marley and Me and Twilight on Netflix, blu-ray of course. We liked all three movies which was a plus… never good wasting time on a dud.

Zippered Mattress Protectors for Allergy Relief
By Mommy24-7 | April 19, 2009
Annoyance of the day… washed my daughters allergy cover today and it ripped to shreds!! Haven’t had any trouble with it before… They are NOT cheap and now we have to get a new one. I’ve been wanting one for our bed too but we have a very thick King mattress and they are $$$ or not deep enough. I guess that will be my fun for tomorrow. I found a bunch of sites online but I’m just not in the mood to do this now
Here’s one in case I get stuck and can’t find it: Allergy Guard Direct
I’m also really getting annoyed at our washer…we’ve had it for 6 years and I guess that’s about the time when they start causing problems? Maybe we should just leave it with the house…that’s another story…we had our house on the market, now it’s off but will be on again.

New role…
By Mommy24-7 | April 19, 2009
On R’s bday she got way too much as usual…but her special gift was a shirt. Sounds boring right? She thought it was really pretty and then sounded out the words on the front in sparkly rhinestones: BIG SISTER!
Oh she was sooooo excited!! She’s been asking for a little sister forever!!! We won’t know til next month if it’s a boy or girl, but she’s already very much into the Big Sis role. She’ll have to wait til October, but she’s already proving she’s going to be a wonderful Sister24-7 ![]()

Leapster 2
By Mommy24-7 | December 11, 2008
One more quick post… we ordered the Leapster 2 Princess Gift Pack for R. They don’t actually show the right backpack or game system in the picture. Anyway, it came the other day and I opened it last night…it’s so cute!!! The backpack is pink and purple (her favorites!) and the game system is pink and has Disney Princesses on it
She’s going to love it. Then when she sees all the games that we got to go with it…one happy girl!!
Today she’s so happy because she gets to play her computer games. She didn’t get to play yesterday since she didn’t stay in her bed. Once she’s home from preschool I think she’s racing to the computer…definitely our child!!

Christmas!!
By Mommy24-7 | December 11, 2008
Well, I’ve obviously been busy! Still busy
So much to write but no time right now. I just thought I’d update that R has WAY too many Christmas gifts already and that’s only from us! And I know she’s got tons coming from family. Lucky girl! She’s so excited…keeps saying “it’s Christmas month!!!!” She saw Santa once already and they had a nice chat. Bedtime has been going a lot better. We’re slowly getting somewhere…

How could I forget?
By Mommy24-7 | November 14, 2008
My last post where I talked about playing Hullabaloo… yea, that’s not going to happen. You know there’s a lot going on when I forgot that I have taken Hullabaloo away until after Christmas
I didn’t want to do it, but she was warned many times and had a time out because of it.
I am reminded of that since she is currently screaming her head off and won’t go to bed. THIS.HAPPENS.EVERY.NIGHT!!
She listened well today and avoided a time out by listening to me and making better choices, but tonight she got a time out after her bath was cut short for bad behavior. She was ready for a bath and sleep (so she said) at 7pm. That’s early for her, but I think the time change is affecting her partly. 3 hours later, she’s still screaming and trying to rule the house. B and I have been so patient and it’s just not working. We are sitting downstairs while she has her fit upstairs. It’s surprising that she doesn’t come down the stairs. She is at the top of the stairs, but doesn’t usually come down, just gets hysterical and screams for us to tuck her in and then to stay upstairs. I’m done playing her game and have told her no. She knows our rules and they are nice and fair. Even though we’re trying to be as strict and consistant as we can with her, both of us have gone up once to tuck her in (this in not counting the times that we were still upstairs). Once she’s tucked in she wants us to stay and then she’s up again and wants to be tucked in.
I hate hearing my baby all worked up and sad, but she knows better, she really does, and we are done playing games here. We have been going over with her, every day, how lucky she is. We are filling a shoebox (or more) at church for Operation Christmas Child and trying to explain to her each day, with each fit that there are kids with NO food, NO toys, NO Mommy’s and Daddy’s to keep them safe or tuck them in. She is really excited about making another child happy by giving them toys, drawing pictures for them and writing notes. Reminders of how lucky she is has helped with her fits but not tonight.
Until now. I spoke too soon, she was just standing next to me in our living room… promising over and over to stay in her bed if I would tuck her in one more time. But, she also wanted me to stay upstairs. I started to compose an email to our friends and family and told her about it. It read:
Dear everyone,
R will not be getting any Christmas presents this year. She is behaving badly. Please save your money or donate it to children who need it.
Of course I wasn’t planning on sending it… well only to B but she didn’t want that, she chose to listen and make a better choice and now she’s finally in bed and quiet. Only 3 hours and 20 min. after she said she was sooo sleepy and had to go to bed. It’s no wonder why I’m exhausted every single day. No matter how much sleep I get, and I don’t get much, I’m emotionally exhausted.
I do see a light at the end of the tunnel, really, I just wish I knew how to speed up the train!
