Happy New Year

By Mommy24-7 | January 17, 2008

So…moving on from that interruption :) … we had a great holiday season…very busy but lots of fun! We did lots of Christmas-y stuff like taking R to the local holiday things, she talked to Santa THREE times. I don’t think I ever did that when I was little…just once and done. Kids today :) Our house looks like Toys R Us threw up in every room, but honestly that’s pretty much what we’ve come to be used to around here. I always think of my husband in the Disney store with her when we were on vacation… she just HAD to get the Belle and Cinderella “Barbie” dolls. That wasn’t her talking…he felt she had to have them and of course she wanted them… wrapped around her finger! Anyway, that moment, I remember telling him “and you wonder why I get her things all the time? so weak…”

So, yea, we love her, spoil her, make her happy. She’s such a great little girl though.

My family was here for Christmas and we finally got to meet my brother’s fiance and her mom. We love them. I didn’t doubt we would but it’s always nice to confirm in person. My brother’s such a good person and I’m just so happy that he’s found such a good person to spend his life with. I cooked Christmas dinner which was probably lukewarm and chaotic but I think it went well overall. No one got sick that I know of :) My aunt invited herself and then proceeded to fall asleep on the couch as she usually does at gatherings of any kind. Whatever. The rest of us all had fun and opened gifts, laughed at/with R and rocked out to Rock Band which was amusing. R has her own guitar now, so she joins us with that, or her microphone. Either that or she’ll dance or just ignore us all together :)  I have to say it was quite a fun moment to sing Blitzkrieg Bop and have my mom join me!! That was great! She was doing Nirvana too. It was all so silly. Later on I thought “not sure if this is the impression I need to give out” but well, I guess that’s me and it doesn’t take long to learn that I’m a big goofball.

R received more gifts then she knows what to do with. Yet, she will play with the paper towel roll just as much :) She has lots of things that light up, make noise, move…books, clothes, you name it. She appreciates each and every gift she gets which is really amazing. I just love the light in her eyes and the happiness it gives everyone around her. We held back half the things we had for Christmas for her b-day which is coming up. We were set. Then we hit Target the other day and well, they had a clearance in the toy dept. I swear I’ve NEVER bought so much stuff like that before…because it was on clearance. I couldn’t stop! And R was with me…good example Mommy!! :) It’s mostly in our basement though…she hasn’t gotten any of it but one thing and she hasn’t asked either. She knows it’s for her b-day and for other “rewards”. Yes, she has millions of things, new things to play with, but I think that shows incredible restraint for a little girl!! It’s not like she forgets either. She told B about all the stuff Mommy loaded in the cart :)

The one thing I did give her was her camera. She loves to be in pictures but she’s also interested in taking them sometimes. She loves it. It’s a Vtech Kiddiezoom and takes photos, movies and has 3 games on it too. Very cute. We have lots of pics of the couch and floor but she’s already taken some good ones and she’s learning.

So back to December… we also went to NYC after Christmas. There were 8 of us…so it wasn’t easy getting things done but hopefully everyone had a good enough time. It’s hard to have a big diverse group in a big city and make everyone happy. R had a great time and was such a trooper. We forgot to bring a stroller since we never use one at home and we did LOTS of walking. She walked a lot, Daddy carried her a lot. I carried her a little. She rode the ferris wheel at TRU with B and Uncle J. My dad, M (future sil) and I looked on/took pics/movies and my mom and D (fsil’s mom) rode in another car together.

….Ewww, just have to interrupt my post again… B has his earphones on but eewwww, I can still see the tv over my laptop… yuck. No wonder I can’t sleep sometimes…I subconsciously have these gross, icky creatures in my mind. Yuck.

Ok, need to post tomorrow, getting sleepy… must look at some pics of R before going to bed to erase the other images…
